“Your accent is adorable,” he interjected with a bright grin on his face. “I mean, yeah, my accent is sometimes hard to understand.. but I wouldn’t change it for the world,” he said with a small smile and nod.
“Yeah, I miss home terribly sometimes..” Rory explained, “I don’t really have enough money to visit them for Christmas and stuff, so the holidays can get super lonely,” he thought out loud with a small shrug, taking a sip of wine. “Mr. Flanagan would be my dad, so if you want to know more about him I could do that..” he teased, smiling over at Sugar. “Alright, about me. Lets see. I’m Rory James Flanagan the Second, 22 years old. I have two younger sisters, and my family owns a farm in Ireland. I’m… not the farm type, which is why I knew I had to leave. I went to NYU, studied hard, graduated at the top of my class. But of course, a Bachelor’s isn’t enough and I’m going to go back for my masters, and maybe in time, my doctrine.” He finally said, running out of anything else to say. “And what about you, Miss Motta?” he asked with a grin.
”You live in a building full of people now, you’ll never be lonely on holidays.” Sugar smiled softly. She let out a laugh when he mentioned his dad. ”The first date, and we’re already talking about families? Wow.” She said, playfully. Sugar listened to him talk, she loved hearing about other people. Maybe after her years of being so self absorbed she was making up for lost time? Who knows, but she found it fascinating. ”Rory James Flanagan the second? Are you like a prince in Ireland or something?” Sugar asked, amused. ”Wow, that’s really impressive.” She raised an eyebrow. ”A small kid, well not small because you’re actually really tall..” Sugar let out a little giggle. ”-from Ireland turned NYU graduate. That’s awesome. Although I’m not too sure what a doctrine is, it sounds awesome anyways.”
”Um..” She crinkled her nose, trying to think of something to say. ”Miss Motta is not very interesting, I can assure you.” She shrugged slightly. ”Okay. I’m Sugar Valentina Motta, the first.” Sugar added, grinning. ”I know, unfortunate name right? I’m 21, I’m an only child so I can’t imagine what growing up with two sisters would be like.. I grew, practically the complete opposite way to you. I was born in Albuquerque, to a pretty rich family. My dad is Al Motta, I don’t know if you’ve heard of him but he sells pianos and he’s pretty big in the music world. I kind of.. grew out of the rich party girl life style, and decided to try and do something with my life. You can only speak to the same people about the same thing - money, cars, fashion - for a certain amount of time.” Sugar rolled her eyes. ”My parents weren’t happy with me moving to New York, so we haven’t spoken since I left for NYU.” She wasn’t really sure why she told him that, she usually left that out of the story but for some reason she didn’t. There was something in his blue eyes that made her trust him. ”I took a few writing courses, and I got my English degree. You know that an I’m an aspiring author, and honestly that’s all I can think off to tell you.” Sugar stifled a laugh.
